The Dallas Mavericks recently faced off against the Houston Rockets. Having already won 9 of their previous 10 games, the Mavericks needed this win to solidify their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. As a result, star player Luka Doncic and the team’s point guard Kyrie Irving, proceed to put their best foot forward. Despite strong opposition from players like Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green, the Mavericks duo excelled even better.

While Doncic dropped 37 points toward his team’s overall score, Irving added another noteworthy line in his career bio by scoring a season-high 48 points. Their combined 85 points helped the team establish momentum and allowed them to defeat their opponents by a score of 147-136.

During the post-game press conference, Irving proceeded to take some questions from various media members. When asked how it felt to hit the 85-point partnership threshold alongside the Slovenian player, he was perfectly candid about what they truly felt at that point in time.

“At the end of the game, Luka was like ‘I’m tired man,’” Irving recalled. “And that’s why I just hugged him man, at the end of the game, because he left it all out there, he did all that he could”.

The 32-year-old highlighted that everyone on the main roster is currently “labouring in some sort of way,” especially with the playoffs approaching quickly. As a result, he didn’t shy away from sharing an intimate moment with his brother-in-arms, an emotional hug between two weary yet determined souls.

“That was like….one of those ‘in the moment’ type things for us as brothers to embrace each other,” Irving continued. “We know how hard we’ve worked, and how much work it took to get to this point in the season”.

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have been putting out a significant effort ever since the commencement of the ongoing regular season. Together, the duo has helped the Mavericks by contributing a combined 59.6 points, 14.2 rebounds, and 14.9 assists per game. Thanks to them, the Mavericks occupy such a high seeding and may have a shot at bringing home the championship ring for the first time since 2011. Considering this, it was reasonable for Irving to show compassion when his teammate expressed exhaustion. If only Luka Doncic could also have responded in that manner a few months ago.

Luka Doncic called “BS” on Kyrie Irving being tired!

In November 2023, the Mavericks secured a major 136-124 win against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center. Irving had delivered an impressive score of 35 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists in his available minutes. During the post-game press conference, Luka Doncic was asked about his teammates’ on-court performance. While he did choose to send his flowers to Irving, Doncic didn’t hesitate in letting out a revelation. “He (Irving) said he was tired before the game,” stated Doncic jokingly. “So that was, how do you say that…. BS. So I don’t get fined”.

Granted, the circumstances were different. Even if Irving had wished to call his very own “BS” against Doncic, he couldn’t know how far they had come in just a few months.
