Boston Celtics‘ recent deal for star Jaylen Brown took the NBA world by storm. He went on to create history with the biggest NBA contract in history, worth $308 million. While the hoops community showered the 26-year-old star with praise, the controversial columnist, Ben Shapiro trashed him. Moreover, he trolled Brown, days after his heated take on Greta Gerwig’s new film, Barbie.

The Celtics have reached the deep end of the postseason in the last two seasons, almost clinching the title in 2022. Importantly, the team heavily relied on its unbreakable trio, comprising Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart and Brown. Even though Brown has produced various game-winning performances, fans still point out a particular flaw in his game. And Ben Shapiro didn’t shy away from addressing it.

Ben Shapiro calls out Jaylen Brown in a tweet

Ben Shapiro is famous for his conservative political videos that go viral on social media and YouTube. The 39-year-old media personality recently went viral for his take on the film Barbie, as he went on a 43-minute rant, criticizing the politics of the film. Following that, he reacted to the biggest NBA contract with a brutal attack on the star.

Shapiro took to the tweet and retweeted it with a sly dig aimed at Jaylen Brown. He wrote, “Man, imagine how much he’d be worth if he could dribble or go to his left.” 

Following the tweet, thousands of fans engaged in a debate, some defending the hooper and some siding with Shapiro’s take.

Despite the debatable statement, Brown has faced several criticisms for his ability to dribble the ball to his left and causing a lot of turnovers.  Particularly during game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. His blunders during the elimination game opened him up to a lot of backlash.

On the other hand, Shapiro garnered thousands of reactions for this take, just like his callout of the Greta Gerwig film, Barbie.

Fans swarmed to the theaters like never before for the much-awaited Barbenheimer face-off.

On the other end, Ben Shapiro was gearing up to drop his 40-minute rant on Barbie. Shapiro went on to call the film a “flaming piece of dogs**t.” Following his criticisms, thousands of fans who oppose his political views, took to social media, to retaliate against his comments.

Whatever is said and done, Jaylen Brown has proved himself as a superstar for the Celtics franchise with his performances. The upcoming season will have a lot of eyes watching the star. With the largest contract in the league will come larger expectations.

Only time will tell if Brown can prove Shapiro and all of his doubters wrong.
