There is no doubt that LeBron James is one of the most hyped and sought-after players in the league despite being in his 20th season. While James may be in the twilight years of his career, The King still packs a punch on the hardwood floor. That’s why the buzz surrounding him hasn’t died down since his rookie year. So, when LBJ decided to go ahead with this respectful gesture, the entire NBA world bowed their heads to him.

The majority of the league was on board with LeBron going back to his initial jersey number. However, this Fox reporter may have somewhat of a grudge against the four-time NBA champion, with the way he lashes out at him.

Fox reporter slams LeBron James

LeBron James recently made headlines after winning an award at the ESPYs. It was a record-breaking 16th ESPY win for The Kid from Akron, awarded to him for surpassing former Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer. It was great to see the 38-year-old in action as he had previously given the NBA world a scare. Following a brutal Western Conference Finals loss to the Denver Nuggets, James started hinting toward retirement.

However, he quickly put that to rest. Recently, The King’s decision to go back to his initial number 23 jersey led Fox reporter Ben Maller to go off on LeBron. He did not feel as if James did this out of respect but instead to keep the buzz around him alive.

While on his YouTube channel, Maller said, “My man LeBron, he has that inflated ego. God bless him. So number one, LeBron James changing his uniform number is blank. How about unnecessary? How about insufferable? ”

Clearly, the Fox reporter has some contempt for LeBron. Could it be the unsuccessful attempt at recruiting The King to the Clippers in 2010? Who knows!

The 48-year-old claimed, “Now he’s doing it out of really, boredom.”

Maller also went on to add, “He’s cooking up different ways he can create, artificially create a little bit of buzz, keep the band in the spotlight.”

Maller continues his rampant verbal assassination

Listeners who hear Ben Maller broadcast on the radio might feel that he may have something against LeBron James the way he has been slamming him.

Maller even went on to say that James is taking a page from the playbook of Kobe Bryant.

According to Maller, James wants the Lakers to retire both numbers 6 and 23 whenever he does decide to hang his sneakers up for good.

Maller said, “He wants to make sure. He wants any doubt to go out the window that when he’s done playing, he gets the full Laker suck-up package.”

Now, whether you are a LeBron fan or not, we would like to hear your thoughts on whether Maller is in the right or wrong. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
