The Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets matchup turned heated at the most unexpected time. Only 10 seconds separated the two teams coming together to show respect. However, what ensued was a brawl after Warriors’ Lester Quinones attempted to get a layup to avoid a shot clock violation. The Hornets, especially Miles Bridges took exception and shoved him twice out of anger.

It led to a massive brawl. Security had to crowd the floor and separate the two sides. Two familiar foes, Draymond Green and Grant Williams exchanged words. The referees assessed three technical fouls, Quinones and Williams both getting ejected. It took the focus away from the Warriors’ stellar defense in a rare low-scoring game in the modern era.

After being the instigator of the conflict, Bridges took to X in a since-deleted tweet admitting the Warriors got the better of Charlotte.

Miles Bridges admits defeat to Stephen Curry and the Warriors

It’s unusual to see neither of the teams cross 100 points in this era. The offense is fast-paced, players are skilled in scoring and defense has become a distant priority. Yet tonight, the Warriors-Hornets matchup was gritty. Both teams shot below 40% from the field. All tht mattered was who played the better defense and hustled more.

The Warriors emerged victorious on that front. They outrebounded the young Hornets side 62-49, indicative of their superior effort to get as many possessions as possible. No player, not even Stephen Curry who has been on a scoring hot streak compiled 20 points. The game-high was 19, set by Bridges who had 19.

The parity in bench points proved to be instrumental for the Warriors, who won the game by 13. Their bench scored 44 points, 18 more than what the Hornets could muster up from their second unit. Despite tempers flaring towards the end and techs being handed out with only 10.9 seconds, Miles Bridges admitted to being outplayed by the veteran Warriors.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, the Hornets forward wrote, “Respect to the Warriors they beat our ass. On to the next one,”.
