Just a few hours after the 76ers clashed against the Knicks in Game 2, leading to the Sixers losing (104-101), Kelly Oubre Jr. crashed his Lamborghini. Further developments have come in this case from the Philadephia Police Department, who have launched their own investigation on how the crash happened on Monday.

As per TMZ, Oubre allegedly ran a red light, hitting a Hyundai Elantra. Even though the Police things that Kelly did commit a traffic violation, no tickets were issued or a breathalyzer test was conducted. Chances are that this is now going to turn into an internal investigation since there are speculations from within the department that Oubre Jr was given some sort of special treatment since he is a famous basketball player for the Sixers.

TMZ Sports’ Michael J. Babcock took to X and wrote: “The question is whether Kelly received special treatment from the cops. Oubre, accused of running a red light and crashing into another car, was not cited. Oubre was also not given a field sobriety test or breathalyzer.”

As per the Police, at the site of the accident, there were no injuries, and the two vehicles in question – a Lamborghini and the 2023 Hyundai Elantra, were towed away from the spot. In fact, the Police cannot confirm who was in the car when the crash happened, neither do they know which car was the NBA star driving.

In a press conference on Thursday night, Kelly Oubre revealed that he is contemplating on hiring a driver. He said, “Everything is good. I’m OK. The people that were involved are OK. I need to probably get a driver or something and just stay off the roads, (not) be behind the wheel.” This incident comes just months after Kelly Oubre was allegedly hit by a car while walking in the City Center in November 2023.

Kelly Oubre Jr’s previous run-in with the Philadelphia Police Department

On November 11, Kelly Oubre Jr was involved in another hit-and-run, sending shockwaves across the basketball community. At the time, the 76ers star said he was walking in the Center City when a vehicle hit him around 7:20 PM at the Spruce and Hick Streets intersection. The vehicle in question was only described as a “silver” vehicle, that was coming in at a high speed when it struck the NBA star.

As per the Philly Police Department, Kelly Oubre Jr suffered a broken rub at the time, along with injuries to his legs and hips. But then suddenly, rumors began to circulate that Kelly Oubre wasn’t involved in a hit-and-run incident but rather in a mishap during a BMX bike outing. TMZ obtained a Ring Doorbell footage of a visibly injured Oubre coming home in pain before his wife called 911. When asked about the rumors, Oubre said this, “I’m just really blessed that it wasn’t worse than what it is and that I’m able to come back to work and smile, walk, talk, and breathe. So yeah, that’s what I have to say about the conspiracy theorists.”
