After last season’s inspiring playoff run, the Indiana Pacers’ 2025-26 campaign is off to a rough start. Their season opener against the OKC Thunder went to overtime but ended in defeat, and at 0-2 without Tyrese Haliburton, they’re eager to bounce back. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves, too, are focused on finding early-season consistency. As the two teams clash tonight, one question looms large for Pacers fans: Is Bennedict Mathurin available to suit up?

As if two straight losses weren’t enough, the Pacers have hit another setback. Bennedict Mathurin has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a nagging right great toe sprain. The injury occurred in the Pacers’ previous matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, where he exited in the third quarter and never returned. With the confirmation now official, Indiana faces a major blow as it looks to rebound from their slow start.

Mathurin’s absence is significant, especially after his 36-point explosion in the Pacers’ 141-135 overtime loss to the Thunder in the season opener. With the Canadian star sidelined, Indiana’s struggles only deepen. It did make matters worse as All-Star Tyrese Haliburton remains out indefinitely as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles tendon, leaving the Pacers without their two key offensive anchors early in the season. Additionally, the Pacers have a lengthy injury list.

Andrew Nembhard is out with a shoulder injury, and then there’s Johnny Furphy, who is dealing with his suffering from a similar foot injury. Also, Taelon Peter is recovering from a groin injury, and Quenton Jackson from a hamstring injury. If that wasn’t enough, the Pacers already have Kam Jones sidelined through Nov. 9, and T.J. McConnell out for a month or so. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, have their own rather short injury list to tackle.

Rookie guard Rob Dillingham is listed as questionable due to a nasal fracture sustained in the preseason. Beyond that, the Timberwolves are healthy and poised to capitalize on the Pacers’ depleted roster. So, how will the two sides’ starting lineup look?
