The Golden State Warriors shooting guard lost badly to that teammate in an off-court game. Talking about it recently, Klay said it made him feel like Obi-Wan Kenobi defeating Darth Vader.

In the podcast episode of Podcast P with Paul George, he mentioned that his former colleague, Ty Jerome, would defeat him in the game of chess. “He would beat me in chess, which upset me,” Klay said, highlighting that he would often take the upper hand before Jerome would turn the game around. “I’m just like five moves ahead of him. Then the money went up a little bit, and he started beating me,” he revealed.

Ty Jerome would often raise Klay’s hopes of winning a chess game before eventually defeating him. To explain it better, he even used an infamous Star Wars analogy. He said, “It Was Like Darth Vader Beat Obi-Wan Kenobi,” referring to the most famous duels in cinematic history.
Klay even said that his other teammate, Draymond Green, used to hype up Jerome and taunt Klay. This used to add a different layer to the competition, making it more intense and competitive. No matter what the results were, Klay would let go of himself at that moment in an attempt to become a champion.

What made Klay Thompson one of the greatest shooters of all time was his attitude of never backing down. Despite coming across as a composed NBA star, the Splash Brother’s ability to turn up in the clutch moments is well known.
His lethal competitive nature, combined with his emotional regulation, makes him a feared athlete. Even after the injuries, his comeback to stardom has been unstoppable, especially after he helped the Warriors win another championship in 2022.
