Caitlin Clark’s NCAA journey came to a screeching halt after the South Carolina Gamecocks triumphed over her team in the national championship game, securing an 87-75 victory. While the game finally ended in South Carolina’s favor, many called out the officials for their bias toward the Hawkeyes.

One controversial moment that raised eyebrows was when Gamecocks’ guard Raven Johnson fell on the floor, and it wasn’t called a foul. Some also felt that Clark and her team received favorable foul calls. Out of those who released their frustration over the officials’ bias towards the Iowa team were LSU star Angel Reese and Ja Morant’s sister.

Reese took to X to express her disbelief at the questionable fouls, stating, “I’ve typed up so many things and just hit delete about 6 times already.” Agreeing with Angel Reese’s stance, Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant’s sister, Teniya Morant, echoed similar sentiments in her story. “ong I was deleting so much…like cmon. how was Chloe call a charge? but pushing a girl to the floor wasn’t? pls explain,” wrote the Mississippi Valley State Star.

Niya and Reese are not the only ones who noticed this disparity in officiating. Earlier, LeBron James too expressed his disappointment on social media.

The topic of poor officiating was also raised during the Iowa Hawkeyes vs. UConn Huskies Final Four game. The Huskies were trailing by 10 points late in the fourth quarter when Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards flipped the script for UConn with an insane final-minute comeback. They would have even won the game had it not been for the dubious call in the end.

With just five seconds left on the clock and UConn down by one (69-70), Edwards set a screen for Bueckers, only for the referees to call an offensive foul on Edwards for allegedly elbowing Gabbie Marshall in a screen-rescreen action. Consequently, the call nullified a potential game-winning possession, tipping the scales in Iowa’s favor.

Bueckers took the high road and refused to blame a call for their loss, stating, “So, you can look at one play and say, ‘Oh, that killed us or that hurt us.’ But we should have done a better job – I should have done a better job of making sure we didn’t leave the game up to chance like that and leave the game up to one bad call going our way and that deciding it.” However, there were legions of people ready to take up pitchforks and torches for them. Including LeBron James. “NAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I ain’t rolling with that call,” James wrote on X.
