The Boston Celtics secured a 110-106 victory against the Miami Heat on Sunday, making it their fourth back-to-back win. This pulled their record to 41-12 as they continue to lead the Eastern Conference. Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was the star performer, sinking the highest points of the night (26), along with 10 rebounds, and nine assists. However, another event that stole the show was the scuffle between Jaylen Brown and Duncan Robinson. Things got dirty between the two in the fourth quarter with less than eight minutes on the clock.

Robinson was blocking Derrick White’s pass to Brown, keeping him from receiving the ball. He got Brown’s arm tangled with his while trying to play physical off-ball defense. Robinson got a foul but he continued to entangle his arm with Brown’s. Annoyed, JB attempted to free his arm and in the process, sent Robinson flying to the floor. He ended up taking a Flagrant 1 foul. After the game, JB accused the Heat of getting away with overly aggressive tactics on many occasions.

Jaylen Brown calls out the Heat for being too aggressive

During the post-game interview, Brown told the media that he was well aware of Robinson’s strategy; he knew that the Heat’s forward was taking the easy way out because he didn’t want to play defense. Brown admits he was only attempting to release his arm after the ref called a foul, but Robinson was refusing to let go. He then blamed this on the Heat’s tendency to go heavy on the physical in their games. “Miami is known for being physical, Miami is known for getting away with a lot of that stuff, kind of mucking up the game. At the end of the day, you got to protect and own your space.”

On the flip side, Robinson had some thoughts of his own on the matter. He blamed it all on Brown and even called him out for playing dirty. Robinson said, “I just thought it was a dirty play, to be honest with you. That’s how people miss entire seasons…Guys suffer really bad injuries from instances exactly like that. So just thought it was dangerous, unnecessary and excessive.”

Despite the altercation, JB outperformed Robinson by a mile. He sank 20 points, and contributed nine rebounds and two assists, while Robinson chipped in only 15 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Fortunately, the two won’t have to meet each other on the floor at least until the postseason. The two teams have already played the required three games against each other, where the Celtics won the series 3-0.
