There is a palpable sense of excitement and intrigue surrounding the All-Star Weekend. However, the wait is almost over, as the first major event of the All-Star Weekend is just a couple of hours away. The All-Star Weekend begins with the Celebrity All-Star Game at 8:00 PM ET, at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. The fun continues for fans, as the NBA has scheduled events such as Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest on 17th February. However, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest is the main attraction on the day that has piqued the interest of basketball fans around the world.
The NBA has roped in some interesting names for the spectacle, including Jaylen Brown, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the current champion, Mac McClung. Several fans are intrigued by what Jaylen Brown has to offer. But don’t underestimate Mac McClung, as he has already sounded a warning to his rivals for the contest. In a recent interview, McClung said, “I think there’s three dunks that haven’t been done in the dunk contest. So, hopefully I can make the dunk. That’s my goal; making a dunk… Watching the slow motion replay will be everything.”

Apart from Jaylen Brown and Mac McClung, Miami Heat’s rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Knicks’ rookie Jacob Toppin will also participate in the dunk contest. While most of the participants have remained secretive about their dunk contest routines, Jaylen Brown has come out and publicly stated that he would like to use his teammate, Jayson Tatum, as a prop.
Will Tatum help Brown win the dunk contest?
Jaylen Brown will become the first All-Star since 2017 to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest. He aims to join the ranks of Dee Brown in 1991 and Gerald Green in 2007 as the only Celtics players to claim victory in the contest. In order to achieve this piece of history, Brown could ask for Jayson Tatum’s help.

Following Celtics’ victory over the Wizards on 9th February, Brown hinted at using Tatum as a prop during his dunk contest routine. He said, “I may or may not use props. I got about six in the chamber or whatever. We’ll see which ones I end up going with, but definitely be on the look for JT to make an appearance on it.” However, since then, TNT has announced that Tatum will be an analyst during the All-Star Saturday Night.
