“I just hate the way it ended for Jordan here, because he is a huge success story. For us and for him, this was a great marriage,” said the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr after Jordan Poole’s exit from the team back in 2023. What was supposed to be a prosperous career with one team of a championship caliber soon turned into a period of complications for JP. Getting hit by Draymond Green, aka his own teammate, during a practice session, certainly topped that list. All of that culminated in an eventual trade to the Washington Wizards. However, you can take a player out of the team, but you cannot take the team out of the player. And perhaps, this is why, even years after his unceremonious exit from the Golden State Warriors, the player still holds the team, and the people associated with it, close to his heart.

The Chase Center recently hosted a WNBA matchup between the Golden State Valkyries and the Washington Mystics. It wasn’t a surprise to find Jordan Poole as one of the attendees of the game. After all, one was his home team, and the other was of the city for which Poole used to play earlier. However, what really got the Bay Area nostalgic is Poole’s actions on his way to the seat.

As JP was heading to the courtside seats, he stopped to either hug or dap several members of the security team. The heartwarming moment was captured by a fan and soon became widely circulated on social media. It was obvious why the moment got so much attention, since it was something that wasn’t for the cameras, but only between Poole and the security guards. By stopping for just a few seconds to interact with the staff, Jordan Poole would have made their day.

Chase Center security asking for a moment off Jordan Poole is not a rare instance. Back in January, Warriors Reporter Dalton Johnson highlighted on Instagram that Warriors security guards had asked to pose with Jordan Poole. This occurred during a matchup between the Washington Wizards and the Golden State Warriors. An arena cop came in and took a pic, with the guards beaming. This showed that time may have allowed the Warriors squad to move on from the young player, but some people at the Chase Center still hold him close.

The recent moment, in itself, would have been enough to make some Warriors fans emotional and long for the player. Therefore, the remarks that filled up the comments section of the video weren’t a surprise.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Jordan Poole's return to the Warriors heal old wounds and reignite their championship hopes?

NBA fans call for Jordan Poole’s return to the Warriors after heartwarming moment with security guards: “Bring my boy back home!”

One social media user seemed to have spoken for everyone by writing, “Bring my boy back home!” Well, Poole already would have been at home. That is, had it not been for the fact that the player was punched by Draymond Green during training camp about two weeks before he signed his extension with the Warriors in October 2022. Though the same wasn’t ever specified as an official reason for Poole’s trade, it continues to be speculated as an important reason by fans even today.

Andrew Wiggins had given props to Poole, once stating to the media that “He handled that better than 99 percent of people would. He handled it like a true professional.” Despite this, Steve Kerr described the incident as the biggest crisis he had experienced with Golden State. In light of all that, who would want to come back?

Despite knowing the truth, several people were still not convinced that Poole could not return. One individual wrote in the comments section, “Bring him back to the bay 😩”. The Ringer’s Logan Murdock, in an October 2023 report, went into detail about the Poole-Green incident. According to him, Steve Kerr made several attempts to convince Green to take Poole to dinner and to smooth over their relationship. However, Green declined.

A belief was raised that the lack of disciplinary action, other than an undisclosed fine, and the inability of anyone on the Warriors to repair the fractured relationship soured the team’s season. Jordan Poole himself reportedly became isolated and was left to balance his personal goals with the team’s. This widened the chasm between the Warriors’ core group and the young players. The chain reaction that followed all made it clear that Jordan Poole was better off with a different team.

One social media user wrote, “Warriors needed his scoring against the wolves, at least for a game. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️”. After acquiring Jimmy Butler back in February, the Warriors were able to find some relief on the offensive front. The team went from being the 11th seed on the Western Conference table to qualifying for the Conference Semi-Finals.

However, during Game 1 of the Warriors-Timberwolves series, Stephen Curry sustained the first hamstring injury of his career. Without the 3-point leader, the Warriors lost the next 4 games and a chance at securing the Larry O’Brien trophy for themselves. In light of that, some people would have certainly believed that someone of Jordan Poole’s caliber could have been helpful in that situation.

One individual wrote, “if we still have JP, Warriors still in the Playoffs right now”. So would have JP. It would have been a welcoming sight for him, since Jordan Poole is yet to make the playoffs with the Washington Wizards. In fact, he is yet to even come close to it. After all, the Wizards had the 2nd-worst win record of the 2024-25 season and the 2023-24 season. To go from an NBA champion to this would not be too welcomed by Poole, either.

One social media user wrote, “Come back home brutha”. Jordan Poole might listen, probably once his 4-year, $128 million contract concludes at the end of the 2026-27 season. After that, the player will become an unrestricted free agent. Overall, the majority of reactions saw people being united in asking Jordan Poole to return. Whether he will ever return is a mystery.

However, Poole might probably wait until Draymond Green is no longer a part of the team. After that, who knows what will happen?
