After decades of disappointment, it finally appears there’s hope for fans of the New York Knicks. The Knicks have established themselves as one of the best teams in the league, with a legitimate chance at winning the 2024 NBA championship. One of the primary reasons behind the Knicks’ impressive performances this season is the stellar displays of two former Villanova stars: Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.
While Jalen Brunson has garnered most of the plaudits for his remarkable showings, Josh Hart has sneakily become one of the most trusted players within the Knicks’ roster under HC Tom Thibodeau. However, in a recent episode of the Roommates Show, Jalen Brunson made a shocking revelation regarding Hart’s future with the Knicks.
During a conversation with guest and Knicks fan Tracy Morgan, Brunson revealed, “Josh was actually talking about leaving.” In response, Hart quipped, “When I say that… when I said I was backup PF?” Brunson then humorously recalled, “When you came screaming to the bench & you was mad because Aaron Gordon was bullying you.”

This latest revelation made by Brunson has come as a shock to most New York Knicks fans. After all, Josh Hart has played the second most minutes during the 2023-24 regular season, trailing only his college buddy Jalen Brunson. Hart has racked up 2,707 regular season minutes, while Brunson logged 2,726 minutes of playtime.
Josh Hart has become an even more crucial player for Thibodeau in the playoffs. In the first two playoff games, he has averaged a whopping 45.1 minutes per game. Additionally, Hart has really stepped up during the business end of the season, going from 9.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game in the regular season to 21.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in the playoffs so far. Although stellar defensive displays have set the stage for the New York Knicks, it’s the All-NBA caliber performances of Jalen Brunson, who truly stole the spotlight. He has averaged 28.7 points (fourth highest this season), 6.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 77 games this season. As a result, they have gained a foothold in their first-round series against the Sixers, taking a 2-0 series lead.
With the Knicks performing exceptionally well on a nightly basis, it seems like they could finally break their 51-year drought and clinch an NBA championship.
