The Indiana Pacers (26-20) ended the Phoenix Suns‘ (26-19) seven-game winning streak by serving them a 133-131 defeat at home on Friday. The game was as intense and aggressive as it could get, which was evident from the injuries that were inflicted on the players. Bradley Beal had it the worst; he took a massive hit to his nose in the third quarter that knocked him to the floor, resulting in heavy bleeding.

The injury led to Beal leaving the game only to return in the last quarter, picking up the game like a true champ. After the game, the shooting guard shares the scary aftermath of the injury, that left him unable to breathe well.

The Pacers center Myles Turner was driving in for a shot when his elbow struck Beal’s face. This knocked the Big Panda to the floor, visibly in pain. When asked about returning to the game after the incident, Beal said, “Probably hardheaded a little bit. I was able to just run up and down. I didn’t feel any concussion-like symptoms or anything. I just can’t breathe out of my nose. Blood just keeps coming down, but as long as I can just get up and down, I was cool. I was going to try to fight it out.”

And fight it out, he did. Beal fought through the game with a broken nose and finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists over 34 minutes. Apart from him, center Jusuf Nurkic also suffered a thumb injury. He jammed his left thumb in the first quarter and further aggravated it by jamming it again in the third quarter. Jusuf sat out the last quarter following the injury, totaling only 20 minutes of game time. Beal’s injury left teammate Kevin Durant concerned while also appreciative of his resilience.

He made his season debut on November 8 against the Chicago Bulls, contributing 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
