Not all is troublesome with the Miami Heat. Although the drama between the team and Jimmy Butler has further intensified, there’s one bright spot on Miami’s roster still. It has been their point guard, Tyler Herro. The 24-year-old is amidst a stellar season and without a doubt is their star performer this season.

Besides his on-court moves and skills, one major pro point for Herro has been his availability. The 6-foot-5 guard is yet to miss a game this season and is already close to overtaking the 42 appearances he made last season. What makes this stat so special is that Heat president Pat Riley had called Herro “fragile” for missing a major part of the last season due to injury.

Now, with Bam Adebayo’s injury, Herro is the player with the most appearances for Miami this season. Furthermore, after his impressive performance against the Clippers where he dropped 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, he even called himself aperfectionist” in his own way.

He shared that he used the “fragile” tag to improve himself this season. “I don’t need anyone to tell me I’m fragile or I haven’t played as many games. I’m aware of what’s going on.” Suggesting he is self-aware and doesn’t need anyone reminding him about his game time. He’s used the Heat president’s words as fuel. Interestingly, head coach Erik Spoelstra had his say on Herro’s season so far. Let’s hear it.

“This is not an overnight thing,”: Erik Spoelstra on Tyler Herro’s stellar form this season

Tyler Herro has always had the potential, the only thing missing was his consistency. Now, the point guard has sorted that out as well. Averaging a team-high 24 points, as well as 5.1 assists, and 5.7 rebounds, the Heat point guard is making a strong case for an All-Star appearance this season. Before he does that, his coach had some words of appreciation for the 24-year-old.

This is not an overnight thing,” the Heat head coach said. “I think people only recognize if the scoring average goes up. But his skill set has been really developing for the last three years.” Suggesting there’s much to appreciate about Herro apart from his increased averages. He has been a great offensive player but now his overall game has improved he further elaborated.

Tyer Herro has further taken it upon himself to not only score but to defend and facilitate as well. Spoelstra was full of appreciation for his player and why shouldn’t he be, given the kind of season Herro is having at the moment. There’s still a good half of the season left and it remains to be seen if Herro can continue to perform throughout the campaign. Nonetheless, he’s on the right trajectory and already close to playing more than he did in the previous two seasons.
