Klay Thompson continues to hurt the Dub Nation. The former Golden State Warriors star stabbed a dagger right into fans’ hearts when he refused to re-sign in this off-season. And followed it up by joining hands with the Dallas Mavericks. Even though he shared a formal ‘Thank you’ statement to the Warriors fold, the star seemed to have gravely distanced himself from the Bay Area, as per the fans who are drowning in sorrow with Klay’s latest Dirk Nowitzki tribute.

Jordan Lawley, an IG handle, shared the latest images of Thompson at the gym donning a #41 Dirk Nowitzki jersey. The caption of the post read, “First look at @klaythompson in a @dallasmavs jersey.”

While the Texas fans welcomed the post with positive comments, the Dub fans definitely didn’t seem positive. A disappointed fan wrote, “SMH. Klay slowly erasing all his warriors love we have for him. Slowly but surely.”

Well, it’s understandable. Klay Thompson spent 13 seasons of his NBA career with the Dubs, taking them to 6 Finals and winning four of them.

However, things certainly didn’t very well for China Klay in the last season. After a series of underwhelming performances, the star lost a spot in the starting lineup for a brief period. On top of that, he developed a “strained relationship” with Joe Lacob, the Dubs owner, and eventually declined a $48 million 2-year extension. While the Warriors went after him multiple times to get him into the roster, Thompson adamantly opted out. To be precise, the Dubs nation saw this coming from a mile away.

Klay ended up signing a $50 million three-year contract and joined hands with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. While the Bay Area fans worry about his departure, the sharpshooter increased his odds to win his 5th ring.

Dub Nation melts down with “Happy” Klay Thompson

It would definitely take time for the Dubs fans to digest Thompson in a different jersey other than the Dubs’ thread. A fan pointing that out, wrote, “Too soon Jordan,” addressing the IG handle. Another fan who felt Thompson has been “slowly erasing” the Warriors’ love, received a bit of heat from the neutral fans.

Responding to the comment, a fellow Warrior fan comfortingly wrote, “If u think he should still hype the Warriors franchise even with him signing up with another franchise, you’re kinda insane. it’s over and we all collectively should move on now.” Just like the fans, even Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant wished the star success in his journey and ensured that the brotherhood was alive. KD, reacting to Klay’s decision, wrote, “A Bay Area God. One chapter closes, another one opens. Keep doing u champ.”

A fan wrote, “Well he looks happy at least.” Another fan appreciated Klay for donning Nowitzki’s jersey, writing, “Klay’s always been very complentary if Dirk.” Rightly so, Klay has always been appreciative of the Mavs legend.
