The wait is over, Celtics fans! Kristaps Porziņģis is back in action for the Boston Celtics. After a 5-game absence due to a right hamstring strain, the Latvian big man made his much-anticipated return against the Detroit Pistons. The injury wasn’t a major concern, and the Celtics likely used this time to cement their dominant lead in the Eastern Conference while giving Porziņģis a chance to fully recover before their playoff run. Safe to say, Celtics fans are thrilled to see him back on the court.

Porziņģis’ last appearance was a home loss to Denver. Tonight, with several key players out, Al Horford (toe/rest), Jrue Holiday (shoulder), and Jayson Tatum (ankle),  Porziņģis is expected to be the offensive force. In the early stages of the fourth quarter, with Boston leading 92-71, he’d already chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. After racking up a total of 20 points and 8 rebounds, Kristaps exits the game, and guess what follows? A standing ovation from the crowd!

Kristaps Porzingis along with Jaylen Brown, was the driving force for today’s win while the rest of the team watched. However, this win came against the 14th-place Detroit Pistons. The real test arises now, can they replicate this success against the mighty No. 2 seed, the Milwaukee Bucks?

Porzingis: A stat-tastic look

Porziņģis, a veteran of 8 seasons across 4 teams (including those chaotic Knicks days), has a career average of 19.7 points and 7.9 rebounds. This season, he’s averaging 20.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and nearly 2 blocks a game while shooting a staggering 52.9% from the field. The Unicorn has an impressive record against the Pistons throughout his career, averaging 21.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in their match-ups. More importantly, in his last four games with the Celtics, he’s been on fire, averaging a whopping 23.0 points and 8.8 rebounds.

The Boston Celtics are ready to face the Milwaukee Bucks, even if the rest of the team might not be at full strength. Porziņģis, however, is looking like a one-man wrecking crew. The Bucks did crush them in their last encounter (135-102), so the Celtics will need some extra strategy sessions. Although, the Celtics won 3 out of their last 5, Porziņģis has historically averaged a respectable 18.1 points and 8.2 rebounds against the Bucks.

The Boston Celtics currently hold a stellar record of 53-14, ranking first in both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. They’ve already secured their playoff spot, but can they take down the reigning champions and cement their claim as championship contenders? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
