Kyrie Irving played the waiting game to hit back at his ‘naysayers’. After a frustrating loss against the Dubs in their last outing, the Dallas Mavericks announced their playoff arrival tonight. The Mavs faced the Atlanta Hawks and took home a comfortable 109-95 win. Following the game, Irving had something in his mind to give back to his critics.
In the post-game press conference, Uncle Drew opened up a meme created by ESPN, that he saved after his trade to the Mavs. In that social media post, the leading sports broadcast company rated the Mavs’ blockbuster Kyrie Irving trade, as Grade D. Following that he revealed that he had answered the questions raised by clinching the playoff spot. Irving further added, “Great moment answering those questions, succeeding, and clinching the playoff spot.”

Importantly, Kyrie Irving‘s cherished playoff spot came in way before the two superstars of the game, Stephen Curry and LeBron James. In fact, they both probably have to compete in the play-in tournament to find themselves in the postseason. The Golden State Warriors evaded their Houston Rockets‘ threat tonight with the blowout win. Now, the Warriors would look to climb up the ladder with the remaining six games.
On the other hand, the Los Angeles Lakers‘ recent three-game winning streak opened up their doors to enter the top 6 and evade the play-in. The team has 5 more games left in the regular season and would look to make the most of it. They also face the Dubs next week, and it could act as a teaser for the playoff race.
While Steph and James have already proved their balling prowess with 4 titles each, Uncle Drew has much to prove. The master point guard has only one ring against his name but a lot of expectations are set on him. After clinching the playoff spot, he said, “It’s about redemption man. Especially in sports where anybody can say anything.”

In his 13-season-long career, Kyrie Irving has appeared in post-season six times. Out of which, he won the title once when he teamed up with LeBron James at the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bron-Irving took on the Warriors in the 2016 Finals. Notably, Irving dropped a crucial 3-pointer to help the team make a comeback win in Game 7. He scored 26 points with 6 rebounds.
On the other hand, Irving has been constantly compared to Steph throughout their career. They both almost possess a similar game, shooting clutch buckets from the perimeter. Recently, Curry’s trusted ally Andre Iguodala picked Uncle Drew over him to take the last shot in the playoff.

He said, “With Steph… proven the teams that you can double him and if you just to get the ball out of his hands… that’s the way to combat him. But with Kyrie. He is just so good.” With the odds favoring him, Kyrie Irving has the chance to change the tide in his favor.
