Hours before his trip to Brooklyn, Kyrie Irving reflects on his unfortunate time with his former team. After a controversial stint with the Brooklyn Nets, Irving stormed his way out of the franchise with a blockbuster trade to the Dallas Mavericks. Months later, he is all set to return to his former home in a Mavs uniform. Before that, Uncle Drew reminisced about playing for the Nets and dropped an emotional statement.

He said, “I’m excited. It’s a lot of love in the city. I don’t necessarily think about the unfortunate circumstances that I can’t control. I really just think about the people that impacted me positively.”

Following a two-season outing with the Boston Celtics, Irving found himself a spot with the Nets. Not only that, he also roped in James Harden and Kevin Durant along with him in 2021. Even though they had a pretty good season initially, it didn’t last longer. Harden left the mix immediately with a quick trade without revealing the reasons then.

Meanwhile, Irving faced a lot of controversies with regards to his political stance and Anti-vaccinationism. The league slapped him with suspension and fines. A few weeks later, Irving found his way out with the Mavs trade. Following him, Durant also found a trade with the Phoenix Suns.

Amid these sweeping controversies, Uncle Drew is all set to take on the Nets at Barclays Center. But, in statement ahead of the game, Irving stressed that he would focus on the positives rather than the controversies attached to it.
