The FIBA World Cup is all set to begin and Team USA, the most dominant team in the history of the sport is ready to take on the world again. However, after a recent shocker, they needed some support from the former World Cup Winner, Kyrie Irving.

Kyrie Irving has had an incredible career in the NBA. However, he has had an even more glorious time representing Team USA. The Dallas Mavericks star is a one-time NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers but has enjoyed far more success as a Team USA member. Winning only gold in every tournament that he represented the country, Irving knows a thing or two about what it takes to represent Team USA. Hence, when Team USA suffered a disappointing loss, Irving showed sympathy.

Kyrie Irving shows love for Team USA

Team USA has the most glorious reputation in international tournaments. From the FIBA World Cup to the Olympics, the Team have asserted their dominance across the world. However, their rare failures have always received heavy backlash over the years. Similarly, when Team USA lost two back-to-back 10-minute scrimmages against the USA Select Team, fans were quick to berate the legendary team.

Team USA were humbled by the USA Select Team during scrimmages. A team consisting of the likes of former No.1 pick in the NBA Draft, Cade Cunningham, his teammate, Jalen Duren, Rockets guard, Jalen Green and Thunder’s Chet Holmgren among other young NBA prodigies beat the Team USA in scrimmage.

Amid the fan fury, Kyrie Irving came to the rescue of the team, supporting the young side.

Taking to Twitter, Irving urged the fans to give them some time to gel. “It Happens, it’s part of the game when everybody is trying to find a role and earn playing time. You Gotta give the guys on the World Cup team time to Gel and get to know each others game. Don’t over reach with this post,” he wrote.

Being the most reputed basketball team in the world comes with its own set of responsibilities. Team USA has built an unbelievable reputation for itself over the years, dominating the basketball circuit for several years. The team has a history of being stacked with All Star level talent which has made it a habit for the team to bring home the gold. However this time, the team consists of youngsters from across the NBA.

They also lack experience at the international level, raising further concerns. Their loss to the USA Select Team did not strengthen their case either.
