Tonight’s showdown between the LA Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks was a nail-biting match-up. D’Angelo Russell led the Lakers with a late push against the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Bucks who were trying to secure the win. Russell ended up with a staggering 44 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists, but it was recently traded Spencer Dinwiddie who stole the show. Despite recording only 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists, he came up clutch with a game-winning block on Bucks’ superstar Damian Lillard with only 3 seconds left on the clock!

In the post-game interview, Spencer was asked about the emotional swings of the 4th quarter, to which Dinwiddie replied, “Feels amazing! I mean obviously we’re in a playoff hunt right now, we know every win matters so just trying to step up especially in the start without Bron and you know my role here is very utility, very defensive oriented and so to be able to make that type of play in my role is fun.” A fan-favorite moment emerged from this interview, while Spencer was answering questions, D’Angello Russell playfully crept up from behind and welcomed Spencer to the Lakers!

The Lakers overcame a strong start by the Milwaukee Bucks, fueled by Giannis Antetokounmpo’s monstrous triple-double (34 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists) and Damian Lillard’s sharp shooting (28 points, 12 assists). Anthony Davis was phenomenal for the Lakers early, putting up 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists before exiting after sustaining an injury.

Despite James’ absence and Davis’ injury,  the Lakers didn’t crumble!

Russell & Spencer: A Brooklyn Reunion in LA

D’Angelo Russell stepped up, leading the charge alongside contributions from Austin Reaves (18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists) and Rui Hachimura (12 points, 5 rebounds). The Lakers’ superior shooting efficiency (52.2% vs. Bucks’ 49.5%) proved to be the deciding factor, even though both teams made 16 3-pointers.

The Bucks came through with a comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lakers by 5 points. However, the Lakers held their nerve, securing a hard-fought victory with Dinwiddie’s incredible block and that improves their record to 35-30. Meanwhile, the Bucks fall to 41-23.

Adding to the excitement, Spencer Dinwiddie signed with the Lakers soon before this win. In the 48 games played this season with Brooklyn, he had been averaging 12.6 points on 39.1% shooting (32% from 3) and 6.0 assists. Safe to say, the gamble on Spencer has certainly paid off!
