The Lakers rope in a big man amid its refreshing games. The LA side, more so, was living rather dangerously in the last two games. If not for superstar LeBron James, the team would have bitten the dust on both occasions. One of the main reasons for the slump is injury woes. Currently, the Lakers’ second unit big men like Christian Wood and Colin Castleton have been in and out of the mix. Amid these concerns, however, the front office might have found a solution.

Shams Charania reported that the team has roped in 6 ’11 Harry Giles III from the Brooklyn Nets, who has agreed for a two-way NBA contract, as per his agent Daniel Hazan.

On the other hand, this update might not be received well by Christian Wood. The 28-year-old center spoke about his underutilization on the court. Now, he has another 6 ’11 player to compete for his position.

A few weeks ago, in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, Anthony Davis missed the game because of an injury. Naturally, the second unit center Christian Wood was expected to cover the for the star in the starting line. However, Darvin Ham surprised everyone with he chose Jaxson Hayes over Wood for the starting line-up.

Wood, who rarely posts from his X handle, posted “Lol” right after the starting line-up was announced. Nevertheless, this issue didn’t take shape into a bigger drama. Now, it could bet bigger after the inclusion of the Nets center, Harry Giles III.

Despite the battle to find a spot in the starting lineup, Wood has been battling another serious concern off the court. The 28-year-old is yet to recover from his knee injury to find his way back into the roster.

Lakers injury update – Christian Wood

A few days ago, ESPN‘s Dave McMenamin reported that Wood could out of the Lakers fold for at least two weeks with his knee swelling. He also added a positive news, that the injury was minor and Wood might return earlier.

The Lakers are currently in the 9th seeding, battling alongside the in-form Warriors, to secure a spot in the In-season tournament. Wood’s return ahead of the playoffs could strengthen the Lakers’ depth and also act as a moral boost.
