The Los Angeles Lakers have had a bumpy start to their season following their recent loss to the Sacramento Kings. The fans are definitely expecting a comeback from the team when the Orlando Magic visit LA. Ahead of the encounter though, the superstars of the roster, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, have a key decision to make.

The concern arose due to the latest changes to the NBA’s policies in the off-season. This has put the icons in a dilemma, raising the possibility of repeating a feat last seen 6 months ago.

What decision do LeBron James and Anthony Davis need to make?

Last month, the league introduced a new rule regarding the star players during each game. It dictated the franchises to bench only one of their top performers to ensure more involvement.  This came across as a major blow to a few of the superstars who refrained from playing matches due to load management.

LeBron and Davis were among those names as they might have to decide for themselves ahead of the Magic game. Considering the injury record of both of them in the past few seasons, one of them might opt to take a rest in the upcoming match. In case none of them does, they would feature together for back-to-back games after 6 months.

It happened for the last time back on 5th April 2023 against their home rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers. After an away match against the Utah Jazz a day before that, the Lakers faced their neighbors as visitors. On that occasion, the outcome did not meet the expectations.

What happened the last time?

In their game against the Jazz, LeBron’s side earned a hard-fought 135-133 win. Following a comeback from the hosts in the second half, the Lakers had to grind out a result in overtime.

That win extended their winning streak to four as The King himself averaged 37-5-6 in 38 minutes of play. The following game in their city yielded a tough fight.

The Clippers eventually came victorious due to their first-half dominance. James, even at the age of 38, led his organization in scoring and assisting but failed to come out on top. Thus, the Lakers nation’s experience with the last instance remained unpleasant.
