The Damian Lillard trade saga has rumbled on for the entire offseason. And still, we don’t have clarity as to where he might end up. Every week there is a new team that is interested in Dame, but that interest is never concrete, and then we revert back to speculation. The players would report to their respective teams on October 2nd for the NBA Media Day and the Blazers want Dame to be traded by then.

With only seven days left till the NBA media day, things are heating up in the Dame sweepstakes and more teams are showing concrete interest in Damian Lillard.

Raptors could Out-Bid Miami Heat

Damian Lillard is going to leave the Portland Trail Blazers. It would be a shock if he decides to stay after going on a media tour to get himself traded. Dame deserves to be traded. After all, he has given ten years of splendid service to the Blazers. He would go down as one of the best players in Blazers’ history. He was the primary reason for Portland’s most memorable moments in their recent history.

Per Michael Grange, the Toronto Raptors have overtaken the likes of Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, and the Boston Celtics in the Damian Lillard sweepstakes.

He said, “By all accounts, the Raptors seem at least reasonably confident they can maneuver their way to the front of the line, past the Miami Heat — Lillard’s preferred destination — and ahead of a team such as the Brooklyn Nets, who have the draft picks to get something done if Portland is open to taking on the last two years of Ben Simmons’ contract”.

While it is true the Raptors can offer more in a trade package, it will be Dame’s decision on where he wants to play. And if recent reports are to be believed, then Dame is against the idea of playing as a Raptor.

Fans React to the Dame Trade Saga

The NBA fans reacted to the latest news on the Damian Lillard saga. Many Canadian fans are excited at the prospect of Dame playing for the Raptors. One Raptors fan commented, “If the raptors get dame who’s beating us?”

Whereas some fans accused Dame of taking the easy way out. A Twitter user by the name of Arkaa wrote, “Lame time wants to go everywhere BUT his own team. He ran from the grind”.

A Twitter handle by the name of Kory Waldron gave his opinion on the saga. He commented, “What this comes down to in my opinion is Damian Lillard, who has a family, doesn’t want to spend half a year in Toronto. No question that the Raptors can put together one of, if not the best package for Lillard”.
