January 23, 2023, is a special date for the Lakers, as they got their special player Rui Hachimura to the team. He was an instant hit because of his attitude and discipline. That positivity was seen in all the future Laker moves. And it led to a huge in-season turnaround. From being in the throes of an unceremonious exit, the Lakers clawed their way back through play in games. And did not stop their ascent till they made it all the way to the Conference finals. Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, and Cam Reddish are going to be special players in the league, because of the knowledge that they are gaining from LeBron and coach Darwin Ham.

Russell Westbrook

For a long time, the Lakers were kind of stuck with Russell Westbrook, who could not help their cause despite his best efforts. This bitterness was felt throughout his Laker stint. But not all the blame should go his way. His flaws were public knowledge, and the Lakers knew whom they were getting in terms of the skill set. And anyway, how can anyone blame Westbrook for the Lakers trading away Kyle Kuzma?
