Last year, it was Bronny James’s rookie year. The historic achievement of his career was not a bucket but a moment with his dad, LeBron James. The 20-year-old recalled, “Going up to that scores table my dad checking in for the first time that’s a a crazy moment I will never forget.” They became the first active father-son pair to play in the NBA and for the same franchise. Despite being the top scorer in the league, it seems James Sr. is jealous of his son.

This has nothing to do with the skills on the hardwood but rather the skills on the greens. On media day, LeBron made an appearance on Spectrum SportsNet, where host Chris McGee gave a shout-out to Bronny’s golf swings. “Bronny swing though is butter“. That’s when the 40-year-old admitted to being jealous of his son’s skills. “It’s unbelievable. I’m so jealous.” Both have picked up the sport in this off-season, and yet there is a lot of praise already for the sophomore Lakers guard.
We all know LeBron James and his bad golf swing were mocked by players. In fact, some compared it to the infamous Charles Barkley’s golf swing. So, it’s understandable to question where the 20-year-old actually learn to play golf. “I have no idea. Can’t he didn’t get He got this right here. You hear the basketball? You see this court? He got that from his dad,” the 4x NBA champion reiterated. The other hosts hinted at Savannah James, and the Lakers superstar agreed.

“Yeah, but you know what? His mom, his mom was a great softball player, and you know that swing. I think she might have.. Bronny got that swing from his mom. He did not get it from his dad.” Taking a dig at himself, the Akron Hammer not only praised his son but also his ride-or-die, Savannah. In fact, when all is said and done and when it’s time to retire, LeBron James clearly stated that there will be no influence of his teammates, which also included Bronny James.

“It’ll be a decision between me and my wife and my daughter.” James was clear that only the three would be involved in the decision of retirement. No, Bronny, and not even Bryce James. The youngest son is a college freshman at Arizona and reportedly will light up the 2026 draft. However, that decision will not be a factor for Bron, who has his eyes set on his 23rd campaign in the league.

Not just Bronny, LeBron James leaves another Lakers teammate out
The 40-year-old is practical and knows that the day of leaving behind the hardwood is coming soon. “I don’t know when the end is, but I know it’s a lot sooner than later.” The revelation came on media day, during which LeBron James was all positive and explained how playing alongside Luka Doncic is motivating for him. In fact, that’s the sole factor that determined his availability for this season. However, James also made it clear that while teaming up with Luka Magic is motivating, it won’t determine how long he keeps playing.

“Zero.” When asked if playing with the Slovenian star would influence his decision to step away, the 40-year-old didn’t hesitate. Since there was a lot of chatter about him losing the influence of the team to Luka, LeBron clarified and explained that his retirement plans will not be based on teammates’ influence.
“The motivation to be able to play alongside him every night? That’s super motivating. That’s what I’m gonna train my body for — every night I go out there and try to be the best player I can for him, and we’re gonna bounce that off one another. But as far as me and some of my other teammates affecting how long I’ll play … it won’t be a meeting with my teammates.” Luka being a motivating factor is a good thing, but for LeBron, the retirement decision conversation will only happen with Savannah and Zhuri.
