After missing out on a game on Thursday, LeBron James returned to the court, notably, amidst an outpour of love. The Los Angeles Lakers landed in New York after their miraculous victory against the Boston Celtics. While one might expect a loud cheer from the crowd for their home team, Madison Square Garden has a different story.

This rousing cheer came in after the frenzy that James created with his post on X. Replying to a user simple post, which only had an apple emoji, James dropped ‘Statue of Liberty’ and ‘Crown’ emoji. There isn’t any clarity behind Bron’s post, but the fans decoded it as the superstar’s trade to the NY Knicks.

Even though James’ agent Rich Paul clarified that the superstar isn’t going anywhere from the Lakers fold. He said, “LeBron won’t be traded, and we aren’t asking to be,” via ESPN.

On the other hand, James also hinted at luring Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young via his X post. The almost entire hoops community sided with Young for his All-Star snub. Surprisingly, even James also joined the bandwagon and even took a sly dig at the league.

Leaving the trade speculations aside, let’s find out what to expect from the Lakers-Knicks clash.

What to expect in the Knicks vs Lakers clash?

The Lakers take on the Knicks for the second time in this season. They faced each other at the Crypto.com Arena on December 19. Both Knicks and Lakers stood at the same point of the league ladder with 15 wins. The Knicks took a sweet 109-114 victory over the home team. Since then, the NY side has only lost six games.

Currently, they are only trailing by only 5 wins to the top-seeding Boston Celtics. On the other hand, the Lakers had a roller coaster ride since their last clash against the Knicks. They have lost 14 games after that and currently stand at the 9th seed with a 25-25 record.

However, it’s hard to write off a team like the Lakers. This team stepped inside the TD Garden arena after two consecutive blowout losses. And, on top of it, both LeBron James and Anthony Davis were rested for the game. The entire setup seemed like a buildup to the third blow-out loss. But Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell constructed a miraculous victory, which only two teams have done so far. The bottom line is, it could be anyone’s game.
