LeBron James, known for both  his generous philanthropy and extravagant lifestyle, showcased his latest luxury acquisition—a six-figure timepiece! This display of opulence came just as Olympic athletes were in the spotlight for their struggle with inadequate daily stipends, which amounted to a mere $68 per day. The juxtaposition of LeBron’s lavish lifestyle against the backdrop of these athletes’ financial challenges set the stage for a thought-provoking conversation on wealth and sports.

James flaunted his Richard Mille Flyback Chronograph RM 11-03 watch worth over $370,000 and it’s limited to 150 pieces. The watch is a combination of luxury and advanced horology with its 18-karat rose gold and titanium case, measuring 49.94 x 44.5mm. It features the automatic winding caliber RMAC3 movement, offering approximately 55 hours of power reserve and 50 meters of water resistance.

The watch also showcases a skeleton dial that highlights its intricate mechanism, protected by a sapphire crystal caseback. It includes an annual calendar, big date, and flyback chronograph functions, all secured with a durable rubber strap, embodying a blend of sophistication and high-performance engineering. Well, all this feature makes it worth $370,000.

However, the King’s display of his wealth, comes at a time when Olympic athletes receive a daily stipend of $68 on average—an amount that barely covers their basic needs.

According to a report, Olympians don’t have a regular salary. In many cases, Olympians depend on medal bonuses. In the US, athletes receive $37,500 for winning a gold medal, $22,500 for a silver medal, and $15,000 for a bronze medal.

There are perks to being one of the greatest athletes of modern sports. Moreover, LeBron’s passion for luxury watches is well known. The report notes that this figure varies depending on the country and some countries pay their medal-winning athletes close to nothing! This figure also depends on the name and brand of an individual athlete. While stars like LeBron or Simone Biles earn millions in sponsorship, most athletes earn less than $25,000 a year. Many of these athletes often rely on part-time or full-time jobs, family support and even crowdfunding to just to make ends meet and support their training.

When it comes to LeBron, his name is already a brand. From starring in movies to having lucrative partnerships with Nike and even having stakes in a pizza company and a soccer club, LeBron has emerged as an entrepreneur as well.
