When talking about basketball families like the Currys, or the Antetokounmpos, another name that is placed on the same pedestal is that of the Balls. Unfortunately, unlike his older and younger brother, LiAngelo Ball never got to make a name for himself in the NBA circle. After a few years in the G-League and other regional clubs, ‘basketball’s black sheep’ set out to create a name for himself in a different niche. The onset of the new year saw LiAngelo Ball setting the foundation for his music career and even securing a prominent gig. Unfortunately, complications may threaten that gig, and a major stepping stone for Ball’s career, to be altered a bit.
A few weeks ago, it was announced that LiAngelo Ball would be one of the performers for Rolling Loud, the hip-hop music festival set to be held in Los Angeles on March 15 and 16. Other artists who have been called in to participate in the same include YG, Sexxy Red, and Ab-Soul. The headliner of the event was scheduled to be A$AP Rocky, the 36-year-old who has several accolades, including two Grammy nominations, to his name. All in all, the dates of March 15 and 16 were set to be a lively one for those attending the event in LA.

Unfortunately, despite being months away, doubts about how the concert will proceed would have been brought up due to A$AP Rocky’s ongoing trial. Back in November 2021, the rapper made headlines after he was reportedly accused of firing a gun twice toward Terell Ephron, formerly known as A$AP Relli. The incident occurred after an argument the two had in November 2021 in Hollywood, California. Rocky wasn’t arrested for the crime until April 2022, when he arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport with his long-time partner and renowned music artist Rihanna. Now, as he has pleaded not guilty to the weapons charges, the trial continues to be underway.
Rolling Loud isn’t the only gig on the rapper’s itinerary of upcoming events. He was earlier announced as one of the celebrity chairs for the Met Gala, which will be held in May. Furthermore, Rockey was also scheduled to star alongside Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s upcoming project. Surprisingly, the trial was originally set to begin in November but was postponed to allow Rocky to host the previous edition of the Rolling Loud music festival, which was held in Thailand. Due to that delay, Rocky may end up missing the upcoming festival.
This complication creates an unwanted scenario for LiAngelo Ball. With Rocky’s ongoing trial, he can be pulled out of the show, and get moved to some other artist’s undercard. After all, the former basketball player was booked as the rapper’s supporting act. Worst-case scenario, Rocky’s entire supporting team is shelved, costing Ball the chance to perform on a major stage. If anyone knows the effect that losing the gig would have on LiAngelo, then it is his brother. After all, the Chicago Bulls star has seen firsthand the dedication that his brother has put into his newfound art.

It even gave the Chicago Bulls player something to brag about regarding his brother.
“He raps like how he hoops. He trying to get 30 every game” said Lonzo Ball. When discussing the dedication that LiAngelo puts into his work, Lonzo further added “When he comes to the booth, he really just wants to make whatever songs he’s got on his phone. And don’t p-ss him off. Cause he actually will walk out of the session. I’ve seen him do it before. Let him get out whatever he wants to get out, it’s his art.”
