With the training camp and preseason games slated to start in a few days, a few hot prospects are still caught up in a long-standing trade fiasco. While Damian Lillard and James Harden have been in the headlines regarding their murky future for a while, it seems like Jayson Tatum’s teammate could soon join them. The “angry” teammate is reportedly upset after trade talks with the Los Angeles Clippers this off-season. However, the Boston Celtics guard could form a dream team with the likes of Kawhi Leonard And Paul George, per reports.

In the summer, the Celtics were looking to trade Malcolm Brogdon to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-way deal to acquire 7’3″ forward Kristaps Porziņģis. The deal fell through because the Clippers failed to get a physical done on Brogdon in time. But the Celtics still succeeded in their pursuit of attaining the big man, losing guard Marcus Smart in the process. However, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year was not happy about it. Although the Celtics got their wish, it frosted the relationship between the team and Brogdon, who is reportedly angry about the situation.

Even though Brogdon’s deal with the LA Clippers did not materialize, an article by Bleacher Report shows that Brogdon might be what the Clippers are looking for. Amid rumors of a rift between the Celtics and Malcolm, it might be best to trade him to LA for everyone involved.

In the deal, the Clippers would receive Malcolm Brogdon for Robert Covington, Terance Mann, and Jason Preston. He will be joining the duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to maximize their potential.

How does Brogdon fit into the Clippers’ roster?

With this trade, the Clippers can add what their roster lacks the most: a point guard who can create for teammates. Malcolm would fit seamlessly into the rotation. The 6’5″ guard is coming off a season where he averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, shooting at 44.4 percent from deep and 48.4 percent from the field. He is a versatile defensive guard who can contribute offensively in on- and off-ball roles. The Clippers have plenty of big men on the roster between Ivica Zubac and Mason Plumlee. They could use some depth in the backcourt.

In typical Clipper style, Brogdon’s major disadvantage has been his availability. So, if he can stay healthy, the deal could prove to be a steal for the Clippers. If Malcolm Brogdon joins the LA Clippers, he will take the reins alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
