Should the rest of the world take the hint? Are we heading towards another grave situation? Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd along with tonight’s star, Quentin Grimes, opened up about the mysterious illness. It’s something that has been plaguing the Mavs locker room over the last few weeks. While it’s not as severe as COVID-19, Grimes revealed that he hasn’t seen anything like this before during his professional career.

Tonight, the team played without their two superstars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, in a tough matchup against the Cavs. The team had ruled out the Slovenian guard for at least a month, citing calf strain, but Uncle Drew couldn’t make it to the game because of the plaguing illness in the locker room. Moreover, he wasn’t the first one to get affected by it.

Speaking of the illness to the press after suffering a loss against the Cavs, Jason Kidd said, “It’s tough. It’s in the locker room, some of the coaches are dealing with it too. It’s just… time of the year that people get sick.” Importantly, when a reporter asked if he had seen anything like this in his career, he added, “No, I mean the COVID, yes.”

But then, Kidd brought down the tension, saying, There is always a seasonal flu… Everybody deals with it. It’s just part of NBA and travel.” Notably, he also made a helpless statement, “All you can do is try to prevent it, stay away from each other as much as possible.”

Following him, Quentin Grimes, who scored a team-high 26 points lined with Kidd’s take. He added his experience of battling the illness, saying, “I couldn’t even get out of bed, it ran through the whole team. I think J-Kidd and them got it… I ain’t ever seen nothing like it, even in high school, college, everybody getting sick.” Is it only with the Mavs?

While Jason Kidd called it a “seasonal flu”, is it really the case?

If it’s only seasonal flu, then it’s a potent one because it not only affects the Mavericks fold but also several other players across the league. Apart from Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson also missed a game, citing an illness. Unfortunately, it was the game when all three superstars didn’t lace up and the team suffered an embarrassing loss.

Even LeBron James missed out on the game against the Sacramento Kings last week because of illness. Fortunately, it didn’t spread across the LA side’s locker room, and most importantly; the superstar recovered quickly, as he missed only one game. However, it wasn’t the same for Damian Lillard.

The Milwaukee Bucks guard suffered an illness around the same time and missed four games in a row. So, as of now, we can have a sigh of relief that the players have recovered in time and didn’t have anything trouble deal with. Moreover, several reports have pointed out a new virus outbreak in China, once again triggering pandemic fear. Nevertheless, everything is under control as of now, as the officials stated it as a winter occurrence. What do you make of the situation? Let us know in the comments.
