Bridges made around $31 million in his time at the Phoenix Suns before being traded to the Nets. In just one year in Brooklyn, he took home roughly $28 million from his contract. Now at the Knicks, Bridges earned $21 million last year and is set to earn $23.8 million for the 2024/25 NBA season. This put Mikal’s NBA career earnings at $83 million. However, reports suggest he may not be renewing his contract with the Knicks.

Did Mikal Bridges decline the New York Knicks’ extension offer?

The Athletic’s James Edwards reported that Mikal Bridges seemingly declined to extend his contract with the New York Knicks ahead of the 2024/25 season deadline. Bridges is currently in the penultimate year of his four-year, $90 million rookie scale contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent in the 2025/26 season.

Edwards notes that the two-year deal worth $60 million was the most Mikal Bridges was eligible for this season. So it makes sense that he declined the Knicks’ offer to extend. Especially when you consider the fact that he will be eligible for a four-year, $156 million deal from next season.

Bridges has grown quite a bit as a player over the past few years. And given his keen eye for profit, he will surely pen another blockbuster deal once his current contract expires. And don’t worry, we’ll be right here to bring you all the details about it!
