In a startling trade this offseason, the 2x Finals MVP Kevin Durant landed in Phoenix. Durant was granted his wish by the Brooklyn Nets after two trade requests. However, in the trade package that the Phoenix Suns used to land Durant, was 26-year-old Mikal Bridges.

Kevin Durant has been a superstar in the NBA for several years. Known for his incredible shotmaking and handles, he most certainly is one of the craftiest players in the league. But Mikal Bridges also raised several eyebrows with his impressive performances.

Bridges landed in Brooklyn and immediately locked in and made heads turn. His spectacular performance in the second half of the 2023 NBA season propelled the Villanova Wildcats alum to superstar status. He quickly became the face of the franchise for the Nets after their “Big Three” era came to an end.

With his newfound status in Brooklyn, the former Phoenix Sun star recently graced Sports Illustrated’s The Gaming Room.

He was asked who he thought had a deeper “bag” – Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic or “The Slim Reaper” Kevin Durant? His prompt answer was Luka Doncic. “And the thing is,” Bridges said, “you say that and most people are like….question was, who has the deeper bag.”

He went on to share his opinion about Durant’s bag. “They both have serious bags, KD, you know got the mean left or right cross…..and the thing is, he get to whatever spot he wants.”

Bridges explained why he thought Doncic had the better bag. “Luka is just a little different how he goes, bro….gotta have even more of a crazy skillset to get to your spots.” However, he did show some love to the 2 time NBA Champion saying, “KD’s one of my favourite players…I know his game. I know all about his game.”

When Bridges shared his opinion about the 13 time All Star’s bag, the fans were not having it. They took to Twitter to express their piercing take.

Some fans claimed Bridges was still salty about being traded to Brooklyn by the Suns.

Some users gave a more calculated response.

Fans claimed that the statement could be true but Doncic will never surpass Kevin Durant.

However, some Dallas Mavericks fans just wanted Bridges to join the Mavericks.

Bridges’ statement certainly drew mixed reactions. However, it cannot be denied that the two players involved in the discussion are extremely skilled athletes.
