“Nothing short of a miracle” is how Kyrie Irving described his heroics during the holy month of Ramadan. Playing an average of 34.4 minutes per game without food or fluid intake from dawn until sunset is an incredible feat in itself. But Kyrie has been doing it on a high level. Since the beginning of Ramadan earlier this month, Irving has been on fire, averaging 27.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 2 steals per game, all while shooting an impressive 53.8 percent from the field. Interestingly, all these five metrics are higher than his season averages. And this success can be attributed not only to his faith but also to the support of his team.

Brian Dameris of Bally Sports Southwest revealed that the Dallas Mavericks have been flying a personal chef to prepare vegan meals for Irving to eat once the sun goes down as he observes Ramadan. However, Mark Cuban’s gesture towards Irving reminded rapper Cam’ron of a situation that happened years ago. In the recent episode of Come and Talk 2 Me, the 48-year-old said, “The employees had a problem with the organization. It was a male chauvinist thing or people were underpaid and so on and so forth and it was a big situation where the employees had a problem with the organization.”

Cam’ron’s comments refer to a 2018 incident where over a dozen current and former employees exposed widespread sexual harassment and toxic masculinity within the organization. Cuban, who was previously unaware of the situation, took immediate and decisive action once he became aware of the allegations. “So when he found out that employees wasn’t being treated right, he started canning [employees], firing [employees],” said Cam’ron. And this is what differentiates the Dallas Mavericks from other organizations, according to Cam’ron.

Mark Cuban rewards $35 million in bonuses to Dallas Mavericks employees

Cuban originally brought the Mavericks in 2000 for $285 million. Over the subsequent two decades, he orchestrated a remarkable transformation, turning the team from a laughing stock into a formidable title contender, even winning a title in 2011 with Dirk Nowitzki. However, Cuban made headlines last year when he decided to sell a majority stake in the team to the Adelson family, led by casino mogul Miriam Adelson and her son-in-law Patrick Dumont, the president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp, for an astonishing $3.5 billion. But what caught everyone’s attention was his gesture towards his employees.

Once the sale was finalized, Cuban rewarded his loyal employees by paying them bonuses worth $35 million. “As a thank you for all your hard work making the Mavs an amazing organization, each of you will be receiving a bonus from myself, and the Adelson and Dumont families. In total we will be paying out approximately $35 plus million dollars in bonuses to you all,” read Cuban’s email to the Mavs employees.
