On 12th December, Draymond Green committed a flagrant foul on Jusuf Nurkić, which had the potential to alter the trajectory of his career. Green was ejected for punching Nurkic in the face and the fallout was swift for both the NBA and the fans. The league suspended Draymond indefinitely, citing “repeated history of unsportsmanlike conduct” as the reason for the suspension.
However, what added to the surprise was the reception Draymond received from his own fans following the incident. After a month-long hiatus from the NBA, Draymond made a shocking revelation on the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show.

The ramifications of Draymond’s suspension
Draymond Green’s indefinite suspension in December took the basketball world by storm. Due to the severity of the suspension, strong opinions about Draymond’s conduct and behavior were expected. But the level of hate that Draymond and his family received in the aftermath of his suspension was unprecedented. Green revealed some sharing, “My mom experienced death threats. My children, I have two children that are of school age. So they go to school in the Bay Area. Most of their friends are Warriors’ fans, or their parents are Warriors’ fans. So my children has had to live with that.”
Draymond’s suspension was unprecedented. The NBA had never suspended a player indefinitely due to unsportsmanlike conduct. After a period of uncertainty, the league has reinstated him back into the NBA, after missing 12 games. Although Green is eligible to play for the Warriors, he is likely to sit out the next few games as he gradually regains match fitness. Let’s hope that Draymond plays with a clear mind, after undergoing a month of therapy and counseling.

However, this season, the Warriors have looked like a mere imitation of their once formidable selves. They currently occupy the 11th spot in the Western Conference standings, with 17 wins and 19 losses.
However, Draymond’s return might just prove to be the spark that ignites their season. In his absence, the Warriors have looked defensively weak, as evidenced by their defeat to the Nuggets. Going into the fourth quarter, the Warriors led by 13 points. However, in the last few minutes, the Nuggets rallied behind Jokic’s dominant fourth-quarter performance.
