The situation between Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat has reached its boiling point. On Friday, the team announced that the 35-year-old was suspended for seven games due to misconduct. It was Butler’s post-game interview following their loss to Indiana and some debatable things he said in it. This has now led to Miami being open to trade offers for the superstar.

However, as February 6, the deadline for the trade approaches, Miami isn’t getting much closer to trading Butler. According to ESPN journalist Brian Windhorst on First Take, “Jimmy Butler isn’t going to extend with any team. And so, because teams know that, they’re offering the Heat right now the poo-poo platter. ” This indicates that other teams are not willing to commit given he only intends to play for them through this season and further enter free agency.

All of this was on the cards since Miami denied Butler a $113 million extension last summer. Well, this does leave us with one exclusion as per Windhorst, “There’s only one team that is ready to pay Jimmy Butler exactly what he wants, and that’s the Phoenix Suns“. The Phoenix Suns are willing to pursue Jimmy Buckets and they have the right piece for it as well, which is Bradley Beal! Plus, Butler is ready to move to Phoenix and they are the only team willing to match his expectations.

But, according to sources the Heat do not want Beal back. Which once again has brought the whole transfer saga back to where it started. This suggests that Miami is looking forward to having Butler back from suspension and that’s not some evil tactic from Pat Riley. It is solely due to the lack of head-turning offers for the 35-year-old superstar. Other teams are happy to wait and not give up too much to Miami.

Why Jimmy Butler’s trade to the Phoenix Suns could be impossible?

The Phoenix Suns have come out as frontrunners in the race to sign Jimmy Butler. However, there is not much possibility of the Suns landing Butler unless they give up one of the players part of their Big Three. This is due to them being over the second apron meaning they cannot take in more than they can give.

Well, out of their big three, consisting of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. Who can Phoenix give away? One player that stands out would be Bradley Beal. He’s earning $50.2 and will be able to somewhat match Butler’s salary. However, even with Beal, there are so many roadblocks. First is his No-Trade Clause, which allows him to trade at his will.

If he doesn’t want to leave, he can simply say no. At the same time, Miami also reportedly does not want him as Tyler Herro currently occupies the shooting guard position at which he plays. Plus, there’s also the element of Terry Rozier who’s still on the Miami roster and will clog up essential cap space if the Heat are interested. We’ll have to wait and watch as the next chapter of this saga unfolds.
