Draymond Green did what he did best and got himself ejected for the third time this season on Tuesday after swinging his arm at the Suns‘ center Jusuf Nurkic’s face and receiving a flagrant 2 foul. The last time he got ejected was for holding Rudy Gobert in a headlock, and this was just last month. This resulted in a five-game suspension.

Following Tuesday’s ejection, it was, without a doubt, evident that the consequences would be more severe than the previous one because of his history of explosive behavior on the court. It was later confirmed that he would be suspended indefinitely.

NBA wants to help Draymond Green

The NBA’s Vice President Joe Dumars made it clear that, while they knew that there would be some level of punishment, they didn’t want that to be the focus. “We thought indefinite was the best way to do that so people don’t get caught up on ‘What’s the number? Is it too low? Is it too high? So the reason for the “indefinite” was to send Draymond the message of “get yourself right.

The only logic behind this suspension, as Dumars puts it, was to debate on how the league could help Draymond. DrayMagic’s suspension will be a heavy blow to the Warriors who are already in a slump and need all hands on deck. Simply put, he should have thought about the consequences before taking the drastic measure.
