Amid the hassle of rebuilding a formidable squad, the Los Angeles Lakers have eyed their superstar player LeBron James‘ son, Bronny James. Though he has not been looked at as a prodigy like his father by the NBA analysts till now, Wednesday showcased James’s array of skills on the court. During the draft scrimmage in Chicago, Bronny especially shone with his ball distribution, shot proficiency, and ability to stick to a specific role on the court, according to ESPN insider Jeremy Woo. With impressive interviews and an exceptional showcase of skills, Lakers’ owner Rob Pelinka and his team are eyeing Bronny James. According to LA Times sources, the team has conducted an interview with LeBron’s son. However, the details of the draft planning and further strategies are not disclosed yet. That’s why the Lakers’ attention to Bronny has not come to the public light. Apart from the publicity moves that James pulled out this week, his skills as a basketball player are enough to embolden his claim for the NBA draft prospect.

A defender with supreme athletic capability, along with high tactical skills during playmaking makes Bronny an important asset to be procured. However, the official confirmation is yet to be put to light by the Lakers’ front office, especially after the height disparity regarding Bronny James. It is one of the reasons that scouts were keeping their hands off the USC player despite his immense potential.

Height disparity that tarnished Bronny James’ NBA Readiness

Undeniably, Bronny James is an important prospect for the Lakers. However, the clouds of dubiousness took over his talent when his official height at the draft combine was measured to be 6′ 1 ½”. In contrast, the recorded height of James during his freshman year at USC’s roster was mentioned 6′ 4″. This anomaly has raised eyebrows again regarding his height issue for an off-ball guard position in the league.

Another part of Bronny’s play hindering his growth is the lack of creative plays on the court. Unless he makes something of himself that only he can perform or play, the path to being a great player will always be inconsistent. Moreover, the last thing that keeps pestering the scouts is his ability to exert pressure during the defensive matchups. Due to inexperience, he lacks a certain aura.

Despite all of these shortcomings, Bronny certainly impressed the scouts as well as the Lakers’ owner, Rob Pelinka, with his performance. Now it will be worth watching if ‘King James’ can train his prospect at the real game itself playing in the same team. If everything goes right, things might turn in favor of his son’s exposure to his own potential.
