Veteran point guard Patrick Beverley is one of the more controversial players in the league. The 35-year-old’s name has been in the headlines for his various on & off-court beefs with players around the league. At the same time, he had lost his credibility among the NBA insiders, as they openly referred to him as an ‘unreliable source’. However, Beverley seems to have turned it around with his recent trade update about his former teammate.

In the latest episode of the NBA Front Office podcast, NBA insider Keith Smith, alongside the host, Trevor Lane, went through the latest updates in the league. While addressing the recent trade update on Marcus Morris, Smith relied on Pat Bev as the source. Even though he credited him for the update, he also threw shade at him. He said, “We all heard through Patrick Beverley… Maybe not the most reliable source when he’s breaking news that’s not related to himself.”

After taking a dig at him, Smith went on to drop the trade update on the former LA Clippers player Marcus Morris. According to Patrick Beverley, the Cleveland Cavaliers plan to sign Morris for a 10-day contract. Even after reporting the update, Smith continued, “I don’t know at this point. Pat Bev, I’ll believe your reports on what you’re doing fully. Marcus Morris? You might have missed on this.”

While Keith warned that Beverley’s report could be false, the Cavs trade update came in a few hours later. Shams Charania took to his X handle and reported that Wine and Gold signed the free agent for a 10-day contract. He also updated that Morris would be available for the Cavs’ Monday night game against the Indiana Pacers.
