Joel Embiid declined the accusations against him. The Philadelphia 76ers star took a flagrant foul under his name after he intentionally grabbed the NY Knicks‘ Micthell Robinson’s legs. The star, who was already under scanner for an ankle issue, started limping on the floor after Embiid’s intervention. While there wasn’t any clarity on the possibility of the Sixers center aggravating the ankle injury, the Cameroonian himself cleared the air.

During the post-game press conference, a reporter asked if he had injured Robinson. Embiid replied saying, “I didn’t mean to hurt anybody,” opening the doors for further questions. While the reporters didn’t ponder over the issue with Embiid, the Knicks team had a lot to talk about it.

Mitchell Robinson made it to the line-up despite finding himself in the Questionable category ahead of the game. The 26-year-old suffered with an ankle injury throughout the season. Notably, he returned to the roster after surgically repairing it this season. Tonight he could play only 12 minutes before walking out of the floor in the second quarter, struggling to walk. Apart from the flagrant foul incident from Joel Embiid, he also hit Robinson’s groin with his leg during a shot attempt.

Describing Embiid’s foul play on Robinson, Donte DiVincenzo called it dirty while Isiah Hartenstein called, “wasn’t a basketball play.” On the other hand, Josh Hart referred to it as a reckless play also stressed that Robinson was fortunate enough to avoid a grave ankle injury.

On the other hand, speaking of the refs concerning foul calls, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said, “They’ll say ‘marginal contact’ and wasn’t a basketball play, then ya know we’ll have ‘marginal contact’ on Embiid and he’s at the line 21 times…so…that’s the way it works.” Thibs didn’t seem to be impressed with the officials tonight. The big man shot 19 FTs which enabled him to contribute 50 points for a comfortable 125-114 victory.

NY Knicks injury worries

New York Knicks and their injury woes has been the tale of the season. They played the majority of their season without two big men, OG Anunoby and Julius Randle. While Anunoby made his return to the fold ahead of the playoffs, Randle was ruled out as he failed to recover his shoulder injury.

6 ‘2 Jalen Brunson alongside Hart and DiVincenzo has almost carried their team to the second seed. Mitchell Robinson might have joined Randle after tonight’s injury. However, Hart cleared that Robinson evaded a severe ankle injury tonight. So, the Knicks star might play in Game 4.

Apart from the injury woes, the Knicks have another important issue, the ‘no call’ for Brunson. Thibs and JB have repeatedly argued in the press conferences regarding the no-call. However, tonight, it was an entirely different story. Even though Thibs argued for the 21 FT attempts offered to the Sixers big man, JB also received 12 attempts, which helped him cover up the loss incurred with his poor shooting spree.

Will the Knicks have an answer for Joel Embiid in Game 4? Let us know in the comments below.
