Trade rumors have been swirling around with the deadline only a few weeks away. Many teams are looking to spruce up their roster and the Miami Heat are no different. They currently occupy the fourth place in the Eastern Conference but are trying to improve their standings while also working on their post-season chances. In this regard, Donovan Mitchell’s name has been associated with Magic City, as many feel like he would be a valuable addition to the team.

However, there is one person who has another view. The former NBA champion has raised his voice in support of the five-time NBA All-Star, John Wall. The point guard has been out of basketball action as he last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2022-23 season. But is there a chance for him now?

In the latest episode of ‘Bully Ball’ on the YouTube channel ‘All The Smoke’, Rachel and DeMarcus Cousins discussed the players Miami should target given its ambitions in the Eastern Conference. Cousins called Mitchell a ‘perfect piece for the Heat’ like many have suggested that the star will be a cure for the team’s problems. However, he shared that John Wall should be given consideration. Boogie said, “John Wall is sitting at home. I think he fits the Heat great. Why he hasn’t got another chance, I’m not really sure, but John Wall is perfect for the role.”

Cousins even suggested that Wall can come in as a starter, off the bench, and help that team get to another level. He added, “I mean, they have some great options with you know filling out this team and actually making them a contender this year.” Though DeMarcus was cautious about suggesting to have Wall as a starter, the former Houston star had an impressive performance record before a career heartbreak.

Drafted by the Washington Wizards in 2010 as the first overall pick Wall averaged 19 points and 9.2 assists in the first eight seasons of his career. He signed a $170 million worth contract with the Wizards in 2017. But, a knee injury in 2018 and an Achilles injury in 2019 were the beginning of his downfall, as they proved to be detrimental to his career trajectory.

He eventually left DC in December 2020 for Houston and then the Clippers, before going back to the Rockets in February 2023 with whom he reached a buyout. Across 11 seasons, Wall appeared in 647 regular season games. He averaged 18.7 points, 8.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds.
