Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, who has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks has spoken about Wembanyama’s performance at the NBA Summer League. Wembanyama debuted for the San Antonio Spurs against the Charlotte Hornets.

Since Victor Wembanyama has captured the headlines, he’s also the target of comparisons with the NBA icon LeBron James, who will be returning to the court this season. Interestingly, James had once asked Arenas to scout for his son, Bonny James, who is also a basketball player.

Arenas said, “There’s not been one superstar that’s balled in Summer League. They never balled out in the Summer League, right because they are playing with a whole bunch of people who are not playing with this team, right? It’s a whole bunch of G-Leaguers, D-Leaguers, oversears, and the pressure that’s been put on them. This is the first time after the drafts that you got to perform!”

Victor Wembanyama is a French National who now plays for the San Antonio Spurs.

His Summer League outing wrapped off in two games though. He had an underwhelming performance scoring 9 points in the first game. However, he bounced back in the second game by scoring 27 points. His total number from the two games was 36 points.

Wembanyama’s summer experience is complete. He will gear up for the grueling training and the full season of the NBA that he will experience for the first time.
