The Dallas Mavericks have displayed sparks of incredible games in this season, but they barely stay afloat in the West. On a lot of occasions, they have had perfect starts but failed to finish it on a high. Despite having two superstar guards, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the team is in dire need of an authority in the front court. And, Marc Stein, a veteran NBA reporter, dropped a reality check that the Mavs have on their way to rope in Kyle Kuzma and PJ Washington.

The Washington Wizards have had some frustrating deals in the off-season. The team traded Kristaps Porziņģis & Bradley Beal and failed to rope in equivalent players. Now, the Mavs have shown their interest in Kuzma.

Speaking of the trade, Stein said, “Kuzma and PJ are top of the list. If the Wizards and the Hornets don’t get what they like, especially Washington, they can just say, ‘you know what we’ll wait’.

While the Mavs’ eyes have locked in on Kuzma, the 25-year-old PJ Washington of Charlotte Hornets is also on high priority. But, the important twist in the tale is, the Mavs don’t have much to offer to trade these two players.

Stein further stated, “When Washington traded Kristaps Porziņģis and… Bradley Beal, they weren’t able to get any first-round picks. What Washington needs in its trade business this week is to come back with first-round picks.” Unfortunately, the Mavs have only one first-round pick and experts doubt that the Mavs would give away the pick to the Wizards. The bottom line is that the Wizards won’t move a muscle unless they receive a fair amount of compensation.

The 1st pick overall of the 2014 NBA draft Andrew Wiggins played a crucial role in the Warriors championship run in 2022. But, currently, the star is off color and in fact, he also lost his place in the starting line-up for a brief time this season.

Amid trade rumors involving him, several reports suggested that the Mavs were interested in him to cover their front court. However, Marc Stein dropped a confirmation on the trade rumor.

He said, “They have been linked to Andrew Wiggins and Golden State… I was told again today strongly that’s been overstated. The Mavs aren’t really pursuing Andrew Wiggins.”
