The USC Trojans fell at the hands of the ASU Devils 82-67. Bronny James had 11 points, six assists, and five rebounds for the night. Even so, the team couldn’t find success. Yet, the social media had plenty of things to say, once again, courtesy of LeBron James‘ firstborn.

Returning to the locker room, Bronny jumped to hit the sign, but it looked like the hit was absorbed by his head instead. That was enough context for X (formerly Twitter) to erupt with comments. None of them are too flattering, obviously.

This user’s comments compare the father and son to clowns while iterating “Road to be a pass first player eventually.”

This next guy posts a picture that says a thousand words. He carefully sums up the situation with a gif of LeBron looking disappointed.

Social media influencer @Emmmyalluu’s comment couldn’t be more sarcastic.

This next guy, though, seems to have a softer approach to the whole spectacle.

This one user took his compliment to the next level as he praised Bronny’s athleticism.

Being the son of LeBron James, Bronny is not a stranger to social media criticism and scrutiny. Ever since his childhood, cameras and paparazzi have been a constant in his life. Even more so when he showed interest in following his father’s footsteps.
Forward to the USC debut, and a sudden cardiac arrest almost ruined it. Of course, the media zeroed in on the James family throughout. After he was cleared for practice, Bronny picked it up right from where he left off. Unfortunately, Bronny James couldn’t live up to the hype. The USC Trojans were considered among the top teams to land a spot in the NCAA tournament.
But with the state of things now, that probability of it happening seems grim. The fact that he had played initially with minutes restriction didn’t help either. While the rest of the world seems to be more interested in pointing out all the shortcomings, an ex-NBA player has complete confidence in James’ firstborn.

Gilbert Arenas stands strong in his initial opinion of James Jr.

In the recent episode of Gil’s Arena, the 3x All-Star narrates his experience of training a young Bronny James. LeBron had called him asking for a third opinion because he knew Gil was training young kids at the time. But what stands out in his story is a rare occurrence that Arenas was lucky enough to witness.

Arenas once put him against Scottie Clark in the eighth grade. When Gil saw that Bronny was holding himself back, he asked him if he wasn’t at least going to put up a fight. “I don’t know what word triggered him, but it’s like his eyes roll back and a whole another human came out.” Agent Zero looked like he was reliving that exact moment.
Witnessing such extraordinary talent unravel in front of your eyes will turn anyone into a believer. And that’s exactly the reason Gil’s belief in Bronny James is solid; even in the face of Trojan’s apparent struggles.
