An older version of LBJ states ”You can’t get to Detroit by training in the pool. You think Michael trained in a pool? I don’t think so.” After that, the youngest version of LeBron jumps in the pool saying, ”Here I come. Cannon Ball.”. Against expectations, the soft-spoken and well-dressed version of him goes for a cannonball move too. It’s displayed in slow-mo to end the commercial. The soundtrack “Summer Madness” by Kool & The Gang gives the whole video a beautiful touch.
17 years after this incredible advertisement, four-star Wide Receiver Kwazi Gilmer declared his commitment to UCLA by remaking this commercial.
Gilmer goes all-in
Gilmer’s video looks like a home-made production and while the editing is not of the same level as a Nike-sponsored LBJ advertisement. But the acting chops are right there, with some amendments to the scripts because of the different contexts. The WR made great efforts to create the same magic. This is an incredible way to announce his arrival at the UCLA Bruins.
