Jalen Brunson is a proud Philadelphia Eagles fan. He made it abundantly clear when he sported a Jalen Hurts Eagles jersey on his way to the team’s game against the Wizards last year. The Knicks ended up losing 116-105. And he reminded us once again when he engaged in a playful banter with his then-teammate Obi Toppin about the Eagles being better than the New York Giants. Although he might play for the Big Apple right now, this South Jersey native is loyal to his hometown. He once again turned his back on New York and affirmed his allegiance to the Eagles.

In a recent video posted by the Philadelphia 76ers’ X handle, Brunson declared, “I’m an Eagles fan. Just to let y’all know.” However, while Brunson openly betrays his NFL team, hiding behind him is Tyrese Maxey, who cleverly tries to dodge the question. When Brunson asked him whether he was an Eagles fan, he attempted to take the conversation in a different direction. “Uhhh we’re about to go out there. We gotta go,” said Maxey.

But Brunson was soon to catch on and stated, “Ahhhh see…he doesn’t love the Eagles.” However, this is not the first time Maxey has tried to avoid this question.

Is Tyrese Maxey a Dallas Cowboys fan?

When Maxey first arrived in Philly, he toured the whole professional sports market. From throwing the first pitch at a Philadelphia Phillies game to banging the drum at a Philadelphia Union match to cheering for the Philadelphia Flyers, he did it all. However, he draws the line when it comes to the NFL. In 2022, when the Dallas Cowboys were up against the Eagles, Maxey was asked whether he would be there to support Philly, and he once again tried to avoid the question. He said, “I’ll be at the game on Sunday. It’s gonna be a great game. I can’t wait to go.”

Born in Dallas, he possibly could not have betrayed his hometown team by donning midnight green when they were in town. However, Maxey admitted that he was dodging the question and revealed that this is a tactic he learned from University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari to avoid answering media questions. “Coach Cal used to tell me when he did media, he used to direct the questions himself. So, we learned at Kentucky that we can direct the questions,” joked the 23-year-old.

However, Maxey will now participate in the Kia Skills Challenge alongside teammates Scottie Barnes and Trae Young. Together, they form the Team All-Stars and will be going against hosts Team Pacers (Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and Myles Turner) and Team Top Picks (Paolo Banchero, Anthony Edwards, and Victor Wembanyama). Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson will be participating in the 3-Point Contest. The duo will then cap off their weekend with their first All-Star game on Sunday.
