Hours after claiming a spot in the Super Bowl, San Francisco 49ers’ tight end George Kittle ignored the Splash Bros. Kittle sat courtside for the Tuesday night clash between the Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers. While Dub Nation considered Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as the superstars of the team, Kittle didn’t think that way.

Sitting on the courtside, Kittle donned Kevon Looney’s #5 jersey. The NFC Champion came along with his wife, Claire Kittle, to support their home team, which is on a two-game losing streak.

Kevon Looney may not be fancy with the buckets, but he has served for the team consistently without any break. Notably, he holds the record for the most games played in a row among his current teammates. He is currently playing his 9th season, averaging 5.1 points with 5.7 rebounds.

He has often faced criticism for not contributing enough to the team’s efforts. Along with that, the Warriors also found a replacement for Looney in Trayce Jackson-Davis. The 6 ‘9 replacement not only rebounds the ball but also slams dunks and scores buckets. In the last two months alone, Davis has averaged around 10 points with 6 rebounds.

Despite the comparison and replacement, Looney still holds the place as a superstar in many fans’ hearts, including George Kittle. This isn’t the first time where Kittle has expressed his liking for Looney.

During the 2023 playoff semi-final series, the 49ers star pulled up for a game alongside Christian McCaffrey at the arena. Even that day, he donned Looney’s jersey. But he didn’t stop at that. Kittle repped up Looney, showing his name on the jersey to the fans in the arena. With the advent of rookie Jackson-Davis, will Looney’s cemented center position be in trouble?

The Warriors have had a difficult run in this season, trying to find the right mix. Coach Steve Kerr juggled with the starting line-up multiple times because of the rusty starts of the stars like Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson. Amid this mix-up, Kerr also rotated Trayce Jackson-Davis into the mix and he turned out to be a wonder for the Dubs. Subsequently, the word in the Dub Nation was already out that Davis not only got the rebound but also scored.

Some fans still batted for Looney, pointing out his relentless run for the franchise throughout his career, and never considered a replacement. However, it is up to the coach to decide the fate of the duo.

On the other hand, Kittle is excited for the Super Bowl. Four years ago, his team lost the trophy to the Chiefs and Kittle wants to avenge that. “I will be back here, and I will be back with a mother****ing vengeance. You will not get the best of me. No sir,” he promised back then. Fans will get to see whether he will deliver on his promise on February 11.
