“No Banners!?”: NBA Fans Mock Steve Ballmer’s Amazing Gesture in New $2 Billion Arena

When we talk about Los Angeles, the first thing that comes to mind in relation to the NBA is the Los Angeles Lakers. The Purple and Gold became iconic in the days of Jerry West and then Magic Johnson. It was the first franchise to turn an NBA game into a fan experience. In the shadow of such a transcending organization came the Los Angeles Clippers in 1970.

The team, first called the Buffalo Braves moved to the City of Angels. Since that day, the Clippers have had many great players don their jerseys and several highlight moments. However, they have always been the second priority. You see, the Clippers were forced to share the Lakers’ Crypto.com arena for all this while. Even a home game didn’t feel at home for them.

To finally unlock doors and become an independent franchise, Steve Ballmer undertook the construction of a new arena – The Inuit Dome. The futuristic stadium is almost ready to open its gates. To create anticipation, the billionaire owner announced a unique update they will have to the stadium. But it doesn’t look it they hit the mark when it comes to the fans’ opinion.

Fans berate Steve Ballmer and the Clippers for their newest gesture

The Intuit Dome is a massive $2 billion project. Ballmer kept in mind having the Clippers’ home arena. A place exclusive to only the Clippers fans in Los Angeles. It brings together a fantastic fan experience along with state-of-the-art amenities. The Intuit Dome is scheduled to open its gates to the team in August of next year when the 2024-25 season begins.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t post some catchy updates. For one, they will be the first to display high school banners in their arena!

Sports Center reported that the Intuit Arena plans to display basketball jerseys representing each high school spread across California. It wants to celebrate “the state’s rich history of youth basketball”. It is a noble gesture from Steve Ballmer, an addict of basketball. Unfortunately, he just ran into a group of cruel NBA fans who gave the Clippers a stark reality check.

The obvious aim to take was at their empty championship trophy case. Here is what fans had to say.

The Clippers might not have a championship, but it’s foolish to count them out this season. Since the James Harden era began, the Clippers have been incredible. They are adept on both sides of the floor. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George smother their opponents while Harden is the playmaking virtuoso. A selfless Russell Westbrook inspires the second unit to assist the star trio.

Clippers aren’t far away from figuring things out. It might as well be this season. If so, Intuit Dome will have the most electric opening, Steve Ballmer will make sure of it.
