Noah Lyles has been at the center of criticism for his loud-mouthed demeanor. For the 200m Paris Olympics Champion Letsile Tebogo, he’s “arrogant.” However, someone from the hoops world reflected on Lyles in his comment while talking about the Jordan era. Yeah… you guessed it right! Anthony Edwards is often predicted to be the next MJ. Not only does he display similarities but also MJ’s full-of-himself attitude. However, this time, he was compared to Lyles for all the negative feedback that followed his controversial take.
Notably, Ant-Man claimed only Michael Jordan had skill during his era. Though he admitted that he hadn’t watched much basketball from that time, the gun was already fired. Just like that, he missed the names of Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. One of the most prominent of them, Magic Johnson, the 10x NBA All-Star, gave it back to the budding NBA star after his remark. “I don’t respond to a guy that’s never won a Championship,” Magic orchestrated sarcastic claps with his single statement.
And it’s true, Magic Johnson is in a whole different league than Anthony Edwards as he won High School, college, and an NBA Championship in four years. Apparently, that confidence turned out to be over-confidence for the Wolves star. That’s what The Odd Couple co-host Veejay Huskey felt as he said, “I like organic personality but when I feel like you’re trying to be somebody or you’re trying to be a person like Noah Lyles, I think you’re trying a little too hard. Just let it happen organically.”

Noah Lyles puts up in comparison because of his controversial remark, sparking a similarity with Anthony Edwards
It’s not new for the athletic world when a critical downpour happens every time Noah Lyles spells something out of his mouth. Last year, it was the ‘World Champion’ remark against the NBA athletes that caught fire. It created a stir in the NBA community, attracting various comments from legends as well as present veterans. Eventually, Team USA proved him wrong at the Paris Olympics as they went undefeated in the pool games to then clinch Gold in the Finals.
Similarly, before the 200m sprint at the Paris Olympics, Lyles claimed, “When I come off the turn, they will be depressed. I’ll be winning.” Coming off a Gold medal in 100m, Lyles felt confident. However, he had to be content with his Bronze title, as he could not live up to his claim. It also surfaced later that he had COVID-19 two days ahead of the race. Yet Noah went for Gold and made such a remark.

And that’s what Veejay Husky pointed out. Too much confidence often lands one in trouble. Therefore, Ant-Man must tread his way into the league with consistency on the court and not only words. The world demands results not just the claims. That’s what Noah Lyles is infamous for, and that’s the same thing Magic Johnson targeted. It’s all about that trophy cabinet!
