“Nobody Can Deal With (Nikola) Jokic, but You”: Amid Dwight Howard’s Return Rumors, NBA Legend Denotes the “Polarizing” Warriors Defense

When talking about the big men of the 2010s, names such as Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, and DeMarcus Cousins come to mind. But there was one man who truly dominated that era, and his name was Dwight Howard. He was a special player and was so good that he garnered comparisons with Shaq himself. But he could not fulfill his potential and his career dithered away after he left Orlando Magic in acrimonious fashion.

Yet, the former NBA MVP could be provided with an incredible opportunity to play in the NBA again after a year in Taiwan.

Dwight Howard to meet with the Golden State Warriors

In 2022, Dwight Howard signed for Taiwanese side Taoyuan Leopards. The 37-year-old completely dominated the league in his one year with the Leopards. This created hype surrounding Howard’s return to the NBA and one legend had a very interesting take on the Golden State Warriors choosing to hire Howard.

Former NBA player and current Phoenix Suns announcer, Eddie Johnson was invited to the NBA radio. Johnson had this to say about the prospect of Howard joining the Warriors “If the Warriors decide to put Dwight Howard on this team, they got three of the most polarizing defensive players in the NBA on one team”.

He added further, “ I kept telling him that I just don’t understand why you are not in the league. He was very disjointed about it. But I told him, you are going to be back in the league because of one reason. Nobody can deal with Jokic except for you. You have proven it”.

Warriors going All-in for their 5th ring

The Warriors briefly dabbled with trying to focus on the future and trying to contend for the NBA title. But that experiment is now over and the Warriors are going all in for the 5th title. The Warriors shipped away 2020 No. 2 draft pick, James Wiseman, to the Detroit Pistons and fan favorite guard Jordan Poole for savvy veteran point ‘God’ Chris Paul.

The Lakers brutally exposed the Warrior’s lack of size in their conference semifinal defeat. And that could be the reason Dwight Howard is linked with the Warriors.

Howard could prove to be a very valuable asset to the Warriors. He could be a good backup to Kevon Looney and also be an imposing presence in the paint. The Warriors’ front office is doing everything in its power to establish the Warriors as the greatest NBA dynasties of all time. And for that to happen, Curry and Co. must win another NBA title soon.
