When the future of the franchise is signing big, you expect the present to be there to hand over the reins. But nothing seems to be going as per fans’ expectations in the City of Angels. The Los Angeles Lakers held a press conference on Saturday to announce that Luka Doncic has agreed to an extension. While the majority of Doncic’s teammates and even JJ Redick were in attendance as Doncic signed a three-year $165 million deal, LeBron James was nowhere to be seen. Of course, this raised many eyebrows, and many speculated that he might be plotting his move away from Hollywood. However, The Number 23 revealed the real reason behind his absence.
When theories ran wild, the King was busy in his own world. Although no one knew at the time which exact world he was in, our sources found James busy spending some quality time with his son, and Lakers guard, Bronny James, away from Los Angeles. Later, the news was confirmed when King James himself posted an emotional story on his Instagram account. The Lakers veteran posted a short clip from an unknown golf course, in which Bronny is seen walking on the green with a club in his hand. And the caption? Cryptic.
However, it wasn’t the clip that had everyone talking; it was instead the heart-touching caption James wrote along with the video. “Nothing like it man! Hanging out 🥺🥺🤎,” James wrote. The LA superstar’s caption indicated that nothing comes close to spending with his family, even if it means attending the contract extension and press conference of his best and most important teammate, Luka Doncic. While everyone knows that James is a family man and loves spending time with his family, no one could’ve predicted this.

Although there’s no harm in spending quality time with their loved ones, it’s the timing of James’ actions that doesn’t fit right in this situation. This offseason has already been filled with rumors of the 40-year-old leaving the Lakers, after his agent Rich Paul’s statement. Now, his ignoring Luka Doncic and the rest of his teammates gives James a bad look. More so after everyone got to find out that Mark Walter and Jeanie planned a surprise trip to Vegas for Doncic and the rest of the Lakers stars.

LeBron James missed out on the Lakers’ trip to Las Vegas
Luka Doncic’s extension was on the top of the to-do list for the Los Angeles Lakers front office this offseason, and they did just that as soon as he became eligible. So, of course, this called for a huge celebration, and that’s exactly what new Lakers owner Mark Walter and team governor Jeanie Buss did. They were the masterminds behind a well-thought-out surprise for Doncic and his teammates. Any guesses what the surprise was? Well, it was a trip to Vegas to attend the Backstreet Boys concert at The Sphere, which is Luka’s favorite boy band.

It was a dream come true for Doncic, who was having the time of his life during the concert alongside GM Rob Pelinka, head coach JJ Redick, and a few of his teammates, including Jarred Vanderbilt, Maxi Kleber, and Rui Hachimura. However, while everyone seemed to have a great time in Sin City, LeBron James missed out on this huge celebration. It would’ve been a great sight to see all of the Purple & Gold celebrate together, but James had other plans that caused him to miss out on this fantastic team experience.
That’s because not only did the Lakers players and staff attend the concert, but they were also spotted backstage interacting with the band’s singers. In fact, Doncic even shot a hilarious video with Brian Littrell. In the clip, the singer is seen standing on the table just to see at eye level with the Lakers guard. This makes you wonder, how good of a team bonding experience it would’ve been if LeBron James did not have prior commitments with his son.
